I believe that art is for every student. Regardless of a student’s passions or ability level, the art classroom is a place for students to learn about materiality and process. I believe that students should have access to art to use art as a way to express themselves and grow through expression.
Having worked in many different educational settings, art is a way for students to express themselves. I am concerned with creating an open environment through critique and critical thinking where students are able to use creative exploration to demonstrate their ideas. Creating this type of environment that students feel comfortable and welcome is one of my main priorities as an art educator.
I aspire to incorporate multiple mediums into my classroom to give students a comprehensive understanding of art. Using two dimensional and three dimensional mediums to push students to think outside of the box when they are making is a goal of mine. By mixing mediums and mastering ones they are uncomfortable with makes a better artist. I want to push students to become better artists and meet their own goals in the art classroom while still becoming better people outside of art. I want to use art as a means to help students see the world differently and become inspired by their surroundings very single day
